What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Packing Associate (3:30pm to 12:00am) position at CHESTER A ASHER INC?
I. Function Summary:
This associate shall feed conveyors with finished product as well as pack product coming off the conveyor belts.
II. Primary Job Function:
- Must always work safely and follow all safety rules.
- Must always follow all quality and GMP guidelines.
- Picks up product from trays/boards, aligning them on the conveyor belt, while preventing pieces from coming into contact with each other as they continue through the coating process.
- Mix chocolate and nuts into molds and transfer the molds onto the conveyor.
- Must visually inspect product during the feeding process for any signs of damage or nonconformity.
- Picks up product from moving conveyor and align in boxes.
- Pick up product from bulk boxes and packs into “pre-packaged” boxes.
- Visually inspect finished products to ensure that they conform to pre-established guidelines.
- Weigh, pad, close, label, and code date packaged boxes. The boxes are then placed into cartons.
- Operate carton tape machine, egg rolling machine, mold and plaque washing machines.
- Clean work area and wipe down equipment and machinery.
- Perform special project work as assigned by department lead or supervisor. May be assigned to assist co-workers in other departments when necessary.
- Must be a positive contributor when interacting with other Asher’s team members and customers at all times.
- Must bring a positive attitude (Can do and What Can I Do to Help) to the position.
- Perform specific tasks as requested and required by the Asher’s Management team.
- Must perform basic general housekeeping tasks while maintaining a clean and orderly workspace
- Communicating with the processing operator if there’s an issue with the product or enrobing machine.
- Looking out for inconsistencies with the chocolate (thick or thin, hot or cold) when it comes to mixing nuts into molds on line 3.

Qualifications:
The ability to read, write, and comprehend English to safely perform all duties and requirements of the position. Must be reliable and detail oriented.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience:
Previous experience packing, feeding, or experience in food manufacturing preferred, but not required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must possess the ability to learn and understand good manufacturing practices, as well as HACCP standards.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Approximately 100% of the work is performed in a food manufacturing facility which is climate controlled and contains known allergens. The feeder/packer must be able to continuously walk, stand, sit, squat, or kneel. Ability to walk over various working surfaces including carpeting, hard wood, and concrete floors is required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35lb with or without the aid of material handling equipment.
