Job Summary:
The Social Media/Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing the websites and social media accounts for the charter school. The Social Media/Communications Coordinator is also responsible for drafting/editing internal and external communication documents, writing and producing marketing materials for the school, including web content, direct mailings, and brochures. He/She also supports the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in advertising, marketing, public relations campaigns, drafting press releases following organizational news, writing letters and interdepartmental memos and other correspondence, and in other capacities as needed. The role requires strategic thinking and an understanding of both traditional and social media, as well as digital and multi-media tactics.
Essential Functions:
- Works with the CEO, COO, and/or the Deputy Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer (CAO) to develop and implement social media plans for the schools
- Designs and manages school website
- Maintains communications with principals at the charter school regarding events and achievements and updates websites and social media accordingly
- Provides photography, videography and written coverage of special events at schools
- Writes and produces marketing materials for the schools, including web content, direct mailings, brochures, and flyers
- Assists in the development of quarterly newsletters, including layout and graphic design
- Supports the CEO, COO, and CAO in advertising, marketing and other projects as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or related field
- 2-4 years' experience within a related communications field, including internships
- Availability to attend limited evening events, (e.g. graduation, concerts, occasional PTO meetings, etc.)
- Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Clearance
Demonstrated Knowledge of:
- Graphic design software, including Adobe Suite
- Adobe graphic design software and Final Cut are a major plus
- Proper grammar, syntax, and sentence structure
Demonstrated ability to:
- Write and schedule social media content on various channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn or other approved social media platforms
- Compose clear, concise sentences and paragraphs
- Use video editing software, such as Final Cut Pro
- Use a content management system, familiarity with a specific platform is not required
- Prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Communicate effectively at all organizational levels
- Follow written and verbal directions
