Provides secretarial support to school office. Performs variety of moderately complex work within established procedures and standard practices. Work is under general supervision and requires extensive coordination with others. Some specialized knowledge of the department is required. Contacts are made within and outside the organization and may require dealing tactfully with individuals on sensitive issues. Accuracy and exercise of sound judgment is required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Job Functions: Registers and processes all required paperwork for new students.Withdraws and processes all required paperwork for students leaving school system.Maintains cumulative and confidential records for all students.Screens visitors, telephone calls and incoming mail; personally answering inquiries which in the employee's judgment do not require the supervisor's attention.Types, assembles and disseminates lengthy reports, handbooks, correspondence, etc.Acts as information specialist to public, students and faculty regarding a variety of matters related to school operations and policies.Maintains good rapport with students, staff and parents.Handles accounting duties for school lunch program, time, attendance and purchasing.Prepares reports and furnishes information requested from within and outside the organization.Performs clerical and routine work required to ensure the efficient operation of the school office.Performs other duties as assigned.Budgetary Responsibility: N/AReport Preparation: Data collection and report preparation under supervisionEquipment Operation: Reprographic, telephone switchboard, fax, computer and general office equipmentContacts: Administrators, teachers, support personnel, students –daily – to obtain and provide information.Work Direction: N/ASupervision: N/ADecision Making: Moderate level of independent decision-making.Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities: N/APhysical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
