The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring a Lead Family Services Specialist II-CPS Investigations . What You Do and How You Do It :
Are you ready to make a difference while having some fun? In this role, you'll have the chance to provide case management for a small caseload, giving you the opportunity to really connect with those you serve. You'll also play a vital role in welcoming new team members, stepping in to supervise when our main supervisor is away, and coordinating placements like a pro!
But that's not all! You'll ensure data compliance (because who doesn't love a good spreadsheet or utilizing various computer systems to track data?), support your fellow staff members, and help steer the ship by planning and developing policies that make our services even better. Staying up to date on Virginia's policies in children's services and CPS is part of the gig, so you'll always be in the know.
In this role, you'll provide on-call supervision, represent our department on the Family Assessment Planning Team (FAPT), and help prepare closed cases for appeal at various levels. Plus, you'll review court reports and take part in training sessions that are all about professional growth and enhancing your skills.

Here's What You Need :
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia) required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Considerable experience in assigned program area / human services programs and completion of required training programs with work experience in a leadership role required.
- Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license preferred.
- Minimum of three years of child welfare experience in Virginia public social services preferred.
- Experience compiling reports, correspondence, data and narrative of case management and grant proposals preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices preferred.
We're Looking for Ideal Candidates Who Have :
Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education / degree verification required. A Chesterfield County application is also required and must be submitted online by the deadline.
This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
This position is part of an Emergency Shelter Team during times of natural disaster, reporting to shelter duty as required.

You must be flexible, comfortable with taking a leadership role, and being a champion for interventions that are implemented. You will work outside of normal business hours which includes providing on-call supervision for emergencies 24 hours a day on a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
