What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker (General Services) position at Chesterfield County, VA?
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in grounds maintenance work preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Good oral/written communication, interpersonal and public relations skills are necessary; basic computer and cashiering skills, along with accurate recordkeeping skills are required. Knowledge of waste management operations and managing hazardous materials are a plus; ability to work in all weather conditions. Work in this classification is primarily physical in nature requiring standing for long periods and lifting up to 60 pounds.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Duties
Responsibilities include performing general maintenance of grounds and facilities, operating heavy equipment, cashiering, and maintaining accurate records, and directing traffic. Safety is the top priority. Display a positive attitude. Perform other work as required.

Shift
40 hours/week; 8 to 10 hour shifts; Saturday - Friday to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
