Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in accounting, business administration or a related field; two years of experience in technical level accounting or bookkeeping; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting. Ability to process transactions using automated systems; to perform mathematical calculations; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Proficient data entry and calculator skills; accuracy required. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle confidential information. Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Must have knowledge of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA), and experience working with an automated accounting / payroll system. Knowledge of USERRA, and experience working in a public safety environment desired; and experience in Telestaff is preferred. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education / degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Duties
Process 56 and 40-hour payroll to include analyzing, verifying and auditing hours entered into an automated payroll system (Telestaff); reconcile hours in Telestaff against hours in the bridge to Payroll; convert payroll files to pass through the Telestaff bridge accurately and timely; audit and import accrual files into Telestaff; track all leave and maintain accurate balances for Fire and EMS personnel; track military leave according to USERRA guidelines; assist in tracking workers compensation and FMLA leave, as well as coordinating light duty employees' work schedules. Manage inventory and order supplies for eight divisions; daily processing of correction forms; process memorandums to payroll adjusting salary, leave and work codes; weekly leave report; serve as backup to process and reconcile purchasing card statements in an automated web based accounting system (Central Square); serve as backup and / or assist the Accountant with data entry for reimbursement requests, invoice payments and purchase requisitions through Central Square. Perform other work as required.

Shift
