What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Supervisor position at Chesterfield County?
High school diploma or GED; four years of experience in water distribution system operation and maintenance or related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A required within one year of employment. This position is a federally regulated DOT position and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing.The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.PLEASE NOTE: Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. Oversees multiple crews in activities related to maintenance, construction and repair of water mains, water services and other activities related to water distribution system appurtenances and infrastructure. Assists the Senior Utility Supervisor in coordinating the maintenance of water distribution system. Assists in managing, planning and coordinating activities associated with the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system; determines action to be taken in event of emergencies; instructs subordinates in repair, operation and maintenance procedures; collects data; prepares and interprets reports and maintains records. Perform other work as required. Position is on-call to respond to emergencies during non-working hours. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
