A Day in the Life of a Physical Rehab Assistant
The Physical Rehab Services Assistant (PRSA) functions primarily as the department secretary fulfilling all department clerical, environmental and data management needs. This position will support therapists in patient care under direct supervision of licensed/certified therapy staff and as allowed by all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. This position will also perform limited routine patient mobility as assigned by and under the supervision of the Physical Therapist overseeing the patient's physical therapy plan of care.

- Performs basic computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations.
- Performs department clerical tasks such as maintaining and ordering supplies and equipment, managing routine correspondence (mail, phone system, department emails), preparing reports/agenda/minutes, and assisting with routine audits.
- Utilizes electronic health record (EHR) system to verify accuracy of charges and other patient care related measures.
- Partners with physical rehab team to assist with performance improvement and department project activities.
- Assists with department staff scheduling as needed.
- Cleans and maintains Physical Rehab therapeutic equipment throughout the facility.
- Maintains appropriate departmental environment of care
- Keeps Rehab Manager informed of departments administrative, operational, or equipment issues and/or needs.
- Assists therapists with patient care related tasks such as patient setup, equipment room, and helping with mobility as needed under the direct supervision of licensed/certified therapy staff and as allowed by all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Ambulates certain patients meeting criteria when assigned by the Physical Therapist overseeing the patient's plan of care under the supervision of the physical therapist.
- Computer knowledge with proficiency in MS Office and Internet Browsers
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate an independent work initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient with standard office equipment skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with patient, patient’s family, team, and physicians
- Ability to adapt to flexible work routine/schedule.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- High school diploma (or equivalent certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
- Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
- Secretarial / Clerical experience
- Clinical support experience in a hospital or other clinical setting
- Medical terminology education or experience
