A Day in the Life of a Critical Care Services Patient Liaison:

Works under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse and the Clinical Nurse Manager of Critical Care Services.  This position is responsible to communicate between critical care services, ancillary departments, patient, and family.  Acts as a professional representative with a focus on service excellence.

 Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Greets families/visitors and helps facilitate communication between families/visitors and nursing personnel; offers comfort measures as appropriate.
  • Facilitates entry into and help direct traffic flow in the Intensive Care Unit. 
  • Performs clerical duties to include supply and nourishment ordering, telephone management, printing of forms, labels, and report sheets, printing and filing of wound pictures, and creating and maintain patient charts.
  • Ensures patients get dietary trays as appropriate.
  • Restocks supplies and patient care carts such as the isolation, intubation, and chest tube carts.
  • Completes mandatory education and contact education requirements including 5 CEUs per year
  • Assures all bed accommodation, procedure, and supply charges are accurate based on electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
  • Participates in EMR optimization and conduct charge reviews to ensure changes made to the record will accurately capture charges.
  • Researches charge system problems and makes recommendations for resolution.  
  • Works with Charge Master to make updates to EMR when coding and billing regulations change.

  • Ability to perceive changes in patient and family demeanor and react swiftly and professionally to those changes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology

 

Here Is What You Will Need:

  • High school graduate or GED

 

 Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience in a clinical setting
  • Customer service training
