A Day in the Life of a OB Tech CNA
The Obstetrics Tech CNA works under the supervision of a registered nurse and the Clinical Nurse Manager to provide technical support in surgical cases and various direct patient care duties.

- Preps instruments and equipment for deliveries and other obstetrics procedures.
- Performs instrument and sponge count at beginning and conclusion of procedure.
- Assists the Registered Nurse with patient positioning and preps.
- Assists surgeon during the operative procedure.
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique.
- Maintains the inventory and cleanliness in the obstetrics department.
- Provides direct patient care within scope of licensure; documents care.
- Gathers vital signs.
- Restocks and performs emergency checks of the C-Section and L&D rooms.
- Performs infant hearing screenings.
- Provides clerical support as needed.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to use department supplies and equipment in a cost-efficient, effective manner
- Demonstrate Postural Vital Signs Competency annually
- High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
- Wyoming Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license
- Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
- Prior Scrub Tech experience
