Job Summary:
Detail-oriented and analytical credit analyst responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of businesses applying for loans or credit facilities. This role involves analyzing financial statements, assessing risk, and making recommendations to support sound lending decisions while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Analysis & Underwriting: Assess the financial health of commercial clients by spreading and analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow projections.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate industry trends, economic conditions, and business performance to determine credit risk levels.
- Loan Structuring: Assist in structuring commercial loan terms that align with the borrower’s financial position and risk profile.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Conduct annual reviews and continuing monitoring of existing commercial loan portfolios to identify potential risks and ensure regulatory and loan term compliance.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all credit evaluations adhere to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Loan Team Manager, Loan Officers, Loan Processor, and Compliance Officer manage credit risk, and portfolio and relationship management.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree, preferably in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in commercial lending as a credit or financial analyst.
- Robust knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit risk assessment, and loan structuring.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with spreading financial statements and risk rating models.
- Existing familiarity with banking regulations, credit policies, and lending practices.
Desired Qualifications and Professional Qualities:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Formal corporate credit or relationship management training.
- Industry-specific knowledge and experience in CRE, IRE, C&I, SBA, ABL, Equipment Finance, and Consumer Lending.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, excel, CRM, and credit analysis software.
- Professional certifications such as Credit Risk Cert (CRC) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
- Experience working with commercial lending software or credit risk management tools.
- Advanced proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools.
