What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Teacher Early Childhood position at Chiaravalle Montessori School?
Chiaravalle Montessori is looking for energetic, enthusiastic and motivated educators to make a commitment to our school, kids and community. We are seeking a full-time Assistant Teacher for our Early Childhood program level (Ages 3 - 6yrs old) for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. The position hours are from 10am - 5:30pm and also assists with our afterschool program.

THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Program Director and with the guidance of the Head Teacher, the Assistant Teacher provides support for children by assisting them academically, socially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually in a manner that fosters the overall development and well-being of each child in accordance with the curriculum and Montessori philosophy. You will assist in preparing and maintaining an orderly learning environment well-equipped with the appropriate materials and supplies. You will also supervise the children as directed inside and outside the classroom, during transitions which may include lunchtime, recess, and others as scheduled.

Education & Experience
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in education) and a minimum of 2 years teaching in a support role within an Early Childhood environment. Montessori experience or certification is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication, organization skills are preferred. This person must be adaptable to different situations, communication and social styles. Patience, the ability to stay calm and maintain respectful and peaceful communication with children and adults is also essential.
Other Requirements
Physical requirements include full ability to see, walk, hear and talk as well as lift and carry up to 15 lbs. regularly, up to 40-50 lbs in the case of lifting or carrying a child in an emergency situation, and pushing/pulling/reaching to maintain files, supplies and equipment.
