OUR STORY
THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE The Chicago Cubs franchise, a charter member of Major League Baseball's National League since 1876, has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. In 2009, the Ricketts family assumed ownership of the Chicago Cubs and established three main goals for the organization : Win the World Series, Preserve and Improve Wrigley Field, and Be a Good Neighbor.
HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE :
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Public Relations professional to join our team. This role involves not only crafting press releases and pitching stories to reporters but also strategically identifying and exploring new media outlets and avenues to broaden the reach of our brand. The ideal candidate will have a knack for uncovering unique and compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences and will be adept at leveraging various media platforms to amplify our brand voice.
THE DAY-TO-DAY :
- Media Materials : Write and distribute press releases and media advisories, ensuring accuracy and alignment with our brand message. Develop messaging, speaking points and Q&A documents for executives participating in media interviews, events and speaking engagements.
- Media Relations : Build and maintain relationships with local and national journalists, editors, and media outlets; proactively pitch stories and respond to media inquiries. Develop PR plans in support of various business initiatives and announcements. Assist in staffing media interviews at the ballpark.
- Media Monitoring : Track media coverage and compile news clip reports to keep the team and organization informed of relevant coverage and mentions. Manage media lists and reporter information.
- Storytelling : Assist in identifying and developing compelling external stories that highlight our brand and initiatives.
- Event Support : Help coordinate and staff events, including press conferences, media events, and other non-baseball events at the ballpark.
- Content Creation : Contribute to the creation of content for various channels, including social media, website, and newsletters.
- Content Review : Review and approve partner content including press releases, case studies, interview questions and blog posts.
- Research : Conduct research to support PR campaigns, stay informed about industry trends, and identify new media outlets and opportunities to tell our story.
