Banquet Captain - Key Responsibilities
As a Banquet Captain at our Chicago Marriott Northwest in Hoffman Estates, you will play a crucial role in creating a memorable first impression for our guests. Your engaging personality and exceptional customer service skills will contribute to our goal of providing guests with an unforgettable experience. Your key responsibilities will include:
Staff Management:
- Supervising and coordinating banquet staff, including servers, bartenders, and other support personnel.
- Ensuring staff are properly trained and following procedures.
- Creating and managing staff schedules.
Event Operations:
- Overseeing the setup and preparation of the banquet hall or area.
- Ensuring the venue is clean, organized, and ready for guests.
- Managing the flow of guests, including seating and serving.
- Monitoring and addressing any issues or problems that arise during the event.
Guest Service:
- Addressing guest inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Accommodating special requests and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Ensuring proper sanitation and hygiene standards are maintained.
Coordination:
- Serving as a liaison between the event staff, kitchen staff, and event clients or coordinators.
- Communicating effectively with all parties involved to ensure a smooth and successful event.
Administrative Tasks:
- Completing necessary documentation and paperwork.
- Assisting with inventory management and ordering supplies.
Other duties:
- May be responsible for managing the availability of liquor and soft drinks.
- May be involved in event planning and coordination.
Banquet Captain Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Degree in hospitality or similar preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a banquet captain or similar.
- Excellent leadership abilities and the ability to manage many staff members.
- Great time management and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to provide an excellent level of customer service, even in stressful situations.
- Physically fit with good stamina for physical tasks such as moving and lifting furniture and standing for long periods of time.
- Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, and on weekends and holidays.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
