This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between the Chicago Park District and the Service Employees International Union Local 73. Pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement, the District will exhaust internal eligible applicants prior to considering external applicants. The District is assembling a list of qualified candidates for this position that will be considered should the position not be filled with internal eligible applicants.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
Under the supervision of a Maintenance Foreman, directs a crew of Laborers and other assigned workers engaged in the cleaning and maintenance of park and boulevard lawn areas. Performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Directs a crew of Laborers and other assigned workers engaged in the cleaning and maintenance of park, boulevard, athletic fields, playgrounds, beaches, picnic, concert and special events areas. In winter months, directs the sanding of roadways and the preparation and maintenance of ice skating ponds. Assigns specific tasks to workers and instructs them in their work. Operates any mechanical or power driven apparatus or equipment essential to the performance of the duties of this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
At least one year of experience performing manual labor work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to perform manual labor. Ability to respond to routine inquiries from the public.
