Job Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director of ERP Business Transformation, the ERP Business Process Support Manager, Record to Report is responsible for overseeing and managing financial specific business processes within the Oracle Fusion Cloud environment, ensuring they are executed effectively, meet organizational goals, and are aligned with best practices. The ERP Business Process Support Manager, Record to Report is also responsible for leading CPS business units and functional departments to develop business requirements and functional designs for the Oracle Fusion Cloud. These requirements and functional designs may vary in scope and complexity, but are considered to be an integral part of replacing our current ERP platform with a modern, cloud-based solution that is essential to enhance the efficiency, agility, and cost-effectiveness of the District's administrative processes. A cloud-based ERP solution will enable us to streamline data management, improve accessibility for all stakeholders, and provide real-time analytics for informed decision-making, ultimately empowering our District to better serve our students and community. The ERP Business Process Support Manager, Record to Report for each area will provide leadership, consulting, project management, change management, analytical support, and implementation support for all assigned areas. In addition, this role will address resistance and challenges that need to be resolved to deepen the adoption and ultimate transformation. This is a full-time exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.

The ERP Business Process Support Manager, Record to Report will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Act as a key liaison for one of the identified CPS business units and functional departments to develop business requirements and functional designs for Finance. Configure Oracle Fusion Cloud financial modules and processes based on documented requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Oversee financial business processes within Oracle Fusion Cloud, ensuring their end-to-end execution and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Recruit, onboard, and provide direction, guidance, and strong leadership performance management to the team to ensure robust learning and career development consistent with the CPS values and mission; foster collaboration and effective integration of efforts with division-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate priorities, relevant project information, (including process status, issues, and improvements) and decisions to appropriate stakeholders regarding requests, projects, and initiatives, ensuring transparency and alignment. Serve as the liaison to internal CPS Units and external parties to ensure timely and successful completion of Program Bridge.
  • Support the business unit within the assigned functional areas to define business strategy, evaluate proposals, build and determine investments, plan new joint initiatives, and determine how they fit into business capability roadmaps and the CPS 5-Year strategic priorities from 2025 to 2029.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of processes, configurations, and procedures for future reference and support. Support the review, revisions and documentation of existing business processes and/or departmental procedures for optimal efficiency and maximization of CPS resources and to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local requirements.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional requirements for Oracle Fusion Cloud processes. Support the business unit in the development of new business processes to ensure the most effective and efficient operations for the department.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, design activities, testing, and deployment to understand and ensure business requirements are successfully implemented. Develop and execute test plans to ensure that implemented processes function as expected and meet business requirements.
  • Ensure the implementation of the program aligning the necessary resources, and maintain oversight of the program execution for identified Business units to ensure targets set are met. Address and resolve issues related to Oracle Fusion Cloud processes by collaborating with technical teams as needed. Continuously monitor process performance to identify areas for improvement and efficiency, implementing changes to optimize workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and proactively address potential issues.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and support to end-users, ensuring they are proficient in using the implemented processes.
  • Other duties and work streams as assigned.

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the ERP Business Process Support Manager, Record to Report must possess the following qualifications:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of professional project management and/or business process management experience in a large decentralized organization including:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience leading ERP implementation activities.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project management, business process re-engineering, budgetary, contract management, and financial analysis experience.

Minimum of two (2) years recent end-to-end full life cycle experience as a Oracle Fusion business lead implementing Oracle Fusion Financials, Grants, Payroll, Budgets & Assets and Cloud Services.

  • Experience working in Finance strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Education (K-12) ERP Oracle Fusion Cloud Implementation preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud implementations, including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Access to reliable transportation to travel locally to CPS locations.
  • Ability to travel domestically to conferences with ERP executive sponsors, and other required events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Highly-skilled in leading others through change
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentations), crucial for interacting with business users, technical teams, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to lead, address concerns, and guide internal and external stakeholders through complex business decisions.
  • Strong business and technical acumen with an understanding of CPS’s business goals to ensure the Oracle Cloud implementation delivers business value.
  • High level of business process expertise, integrity, honesty, credibility, and the courage to make difficult yet necessary decisions.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with the leadership and individuals in diverse roles to understand and adhere to CPS strategies, standards, and policies.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results within defined timelines.
  • Ability to analyze complex business problems and identify appropriate solutions within Oracle Cloud.
  • Knowledge of project methodologies and the ability to manage tasks, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy when configuring and testing the system.
  • Familiarity with SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle reporting tools is a plus.
  • Understanding the impact of the new system on users and processes, and the ability to support change management activities.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and best practices and how they are typically implemented within enterprise systems, with the ability to identify and implement improvements. Oracle often promotes its "Modern Best Practices," understanding these is critical:
  • Strong understanding of various Oracle Fusion Cloud financial modules and their functionality.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage Oracle Cloud's reporting and analytics capabilities to meet business intelligence needs.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest Oracle Fusion Cloud features and functionalities.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues.


Conditions of Employment

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:

  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.

Salary : $110,000 - $135,000
