What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARAPROFESSIONAL position at CHICAGO TECH ACADEMY?
Position: Special Education| Paraprofessional |Hourly/10 Month
Reports To: Special Education Case Manager
Objective: Support individual special education students in achieving normative growth toward individual education plan goals over the course of 1 school year.
Teaching & Learning Responsibilities (Team Role: Supporter)
Collecting qualitative and quantitative data as directed by data pertaining to assigned student(s)
According to the accommodations listed in the students IEP, implementing accommodations and modifications and other educational or behavioral strategies used in the classroom;
Providing periodic feedback to the teacher about accommodations/modifications and other educational or behavioral strategies used in the classroom;
Observing students and sharing information about student behaviors outside of the classroom;
Assisting the special and/or general teacher in gathering documentation such as assessment data, work samples, observations and reports;
Supporting students with disabilities in the general education curriculum with activities as directed by the teacher;
Supporting the student in the use of technology in the classroom;
Collaborating and communicating with appropriate school personnel about the needs of students with disabilities;
Employing techniques, interventions, modifications and accommodations to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities under the direction of licensed school personnel;
Working with a variety of students who may have diverse learning needs;
Providing input to the teacher regarding the student’s response to strategies that have been used in instruction or behavior management;
Maintaining and protecting students’ right to confidentiality;
Assisting with the personal care needs (e.g., toileting) as identified in the student’s IEP; and
Documenting service delivery at the conclusion of every class period. Documentation will include type, quality and duration of supports. Logs are submitted to the Special Education Case Manager for approval.
Professional Responsibilities (Team Role: Active Participant)
Participate in weekly professional growth activities.
Sit on at least one school wide committee
Participate in in-service training programs.
Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the organization.

Demonstrate effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with students, educational staff, parents and staff.
Respect the confidentiality of information regarding students and be discreet in dealing with parents and educational personnel.
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Operations/Other (Team Role: Supporter)
Morning Duty (coverage as assigned prior to the start of 1st period)
Lunch Duty (1 Day Per-week)
Attend Open Houses, School Wide Exhibition & other school based events
Salary : $23 - $29
