OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Support Advocate will work under the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program to provide direct support and advocacy services to low-income individuals and families. This position aims to empower clients by connecting them with vital community resources, offering guidance, and helping them overcome barriers to achieve self-sufficiency. The objective is to foster a supportive environment that strengthens individuals and communities through education, outreach, and resource coordination.
SPECIALIZATIONS
Client Support:
- Helping individuals and families connect with essential services like housing, healthcare, and food assistance
Community Outreach:
- Raising awareness about available resources and services to ensure the community knows where to find help
Case Management:
- Tracking client progress, managing service plans, and following up to ensure clients receive the support they need
Crisis Assistance:
- Providing immediate support to clients in urgent or emergency situations, like homelessness or financial instability
Resource Coordination:
- Connecting clients with local community resources and ensuring they receive proper referrals for continued assistance
Data Management:
- Keeping accurate records of client information and services provided and ensuring compliance with program guidelines
Team Collaboration:
- Working with other staff members, community partners, and organizations to support clients
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education /Background:
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Social Work, Human Services, etc.) preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in social services, case management, or community outreach preferred, but not required
- Experience working with low-income individuals or families is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (if applicable)
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong time management skills to meet established deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate records
- Experience using case management software is helpful but not required
