SUMMARY
The Computer Technician I is the first level of support to provide solutions to maintain computers, peripherals, software and related IT equipment in an educational and business environment that includes Windows and Macintosh operating systems. The technician will be expected to provide excellent customer service to all faculty, staff, and students.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of additional education program specializing in Computer Information Systems and Repair or equivalent related experience
- Knowledge of Windows, Macintosh, iOS and other operating systems.
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware, software and peripherals.
- Basic knowledge of educational and business software applications:
- Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, Google Workspace
- Common open-source software applications
- Common Internet Browsers
- Common multimedia software applications and tools.
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts, devices and security.
- Must possess excellent communication skills; math skills; reasoning ability; and exhibit positive customer service characteristics.
- Exhibits dedication to professional development and career advancement.
Preference may be given for persons having one or more of the following: CompTIA A Certification; experience in an educational and/or helpdesk setting.
Travel across the district is required; must possess a valid Class D Oklahoma driver's license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience to operate district vehicles and maintain an acceptable driving record.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Regularly review Help Desk tickets, set priorities, and ensure deadlines across the district are met.
- Communicate daily with supervisor regarding jobs completed and status of incomplete jobs.
- Respond appropriately to users submitting help desk tickets.
- Update Help Desk as jobs are completed
- Provide technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students for support of student-centered learning.
- Provide technical assistance to faculty and staff for support of the school business operations.
- Install, configure and upgrade computer hardware, peripherals and software.
- Diagnose, repair and maintain desktop/laptop computers, tablets, printers, phones, projectors, smart boards, and other IT related peripherals and software systems.
- Assist in the support of server and cloud-based information and communication systems.
- Inform supervisor of related problems and issues that arise within the district.
- Perform preventative maintenance on district technology equipment.
- Maintain up-to-date accurate records for inventory and repair/maintenance work performed within the district.
- Troubleshoot system/software failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality.
- Work in a team environment and independently to support the mission of the district.
- Assist Network Administrator and Information Technology Director with maintenance of all networking principles, cabling and workstations.
- Assist, as needed, with researching IT needs
- Maintain relevant skills and knowledge through strategic professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as identified that support the mission of Canadian Valley Technology Center.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical. Travel between campuses is required and the employee must be able to provide and maintain a clean driving record.
