POSITION TITLE: Billing Specialist
Full Time, M – F 8am – 5pm
POSITION SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for billing, follow-up, and collection of insurance claims; maintaining correspondence with carriers; responsible for managing AR balances for assigned financial classes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years minimum experience in medical office; billing and collections experience preferred. Experience in Ophthalmology a plus.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent follow-up skills.
- Management of multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to function well within a team environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for full collection process on all patients assigned by financial class.
- Daily AR management.
- Process primary, secondary, and tertiary paper claim forms as needed.
- Requests refunds for accounts with credits.
- Recommends and prepares accounts for outside collection agency to include mailing final notices and making collection calls.
- Posting of electronic and manual insurance payment batches.
- Posting of electronic and manual patient payment batches.
- Review and fix claims rejected by Clearinghouse and Payers.
- Secondary Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls to resolve patient questions and take payments and resolve any front desk billing/insurance issues.
- Sort incoming denials and payments for processing.
- Additional tasks as assigned by billing manager.
Salary commensurate with experience.
