Electrical Project Estimator
Chief Electric Plumbing is one of the largest open-shop electrical contracting companies in Texas. Prism has expertise with projects in virtually every arena of electrical service and construction, including commercial, industrial / manufacturing, healthcare and institutional markets.
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful Estimator will be responsible for performing the following duties:
- Estimate / design and manage electrical projects for commercial jobs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with GC clients, resulting in trust and long term, repeat business opportunities
- Ability to identify client’s electrical needs and develop / design NEC compliant solutions that will meet current and future needs
- Ensure open and effective communication with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, etc
- Perform accurate and timely estimates and change orders using estimation software
- Present scope & pricing in concise, detailed proposals
- When required, develop, submit and gain approvals of drawings, load calculations, etc
- Negotiate with clients and suppliers when necessary to arrive at an equitable outcome
- Perform all facets of job with the highest standard of ethics at all times
- Must be highly organized and detailed in all areas of responsibility
- Must have strong multitasking skills
- Must have extensive knowledgeable of NEC and local requirements
Job Requirements:
- Review industrial building plans to determine the electrical needs of proposed projects.
- Evaluates bid documents to determine overall scope of project.
- Determines all documentation required for bid submittal; determines who should review or contribute information necessary to complete bid.
- Reviews plans and specifications to identify types and grades of materials, what quotes to solicit, and what resources will be required to complete bid in compliance with project requirements and bid deadlines.
- May attend pre-bid meetings or job interviews as required.
- Contacts vendors and reviews plans and specifications to obtain vendor quotes.
- Reviews quoted bill of material for accuracy.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of tools and principals involved in production of electrical plans, blueprints and drawings.
- Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum's, specifications and change orders.
- Thorough knowledge of the electrical field with familiarity in materials and construction methods.
- Knowledgeable of the N.E.C and local codes.
- Knowledge of estimating principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- Knowledge of suppliers and supplier data bases applicable to project specifications
Required Experience & Education
- Experience with EBM & Planswift preferred
- 5 years minimum experience estimating projects
- Please be able to showcase pass wins.
- Field experience is desired
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk.
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Long hours on computer keyboard.
