Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Server Administrator to join our growing team. The Server Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of our server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. This role requires a strong understanding of server hardware, operating systems, networking, and security best practices. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication and collaboration skills. This position requires the ability to work on-site in Tuskegee, Alabama 2-3 days per week.
Essential Duties:
- Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software, including operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), applications, and databases.
- Perform regular system maintenance tasks, including applying patches, updates, and security fixes.
- Monitor server performance, identify and troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize system performance and stability.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect server infrastructure from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of server documentation and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.
- Utilize configuration management tools to automate server deployments and configuration changes.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to support business applications and infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Server Administrator or in a similar role.
- Proven experience with Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with Active Directory or other directory services.
- Experience with backup and recovery software and procedures.
- Experience with security best practices and tools.
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Must be able to work on-site in Tuskegee, Alabama 2-3 days per week.
