About this Position
We are searching for a visionary, strategic thinking, Director of Development, operating from an abundance mindset. The Director of Development is a member of the leadership team, and reports directly to the Executive Director.
Blue Sky Bridge is a well-established organization working throughout Boulder County and has a strong base of financial support, while also offering extensive opportunities to grow our existing support base. The Director of Development is responsible for the development, analysis, planning, control, and execution of a Development Plan, which outlines in detail the fundraising and marketing efforts necessary to reach our financial goals, while contributing to the overall mission of the organization through leadership activities.
Job Responsibilities
Fundraising Responsibilities:
The Director of Development has direct oversight of the Grant Writing Team, Development Manager and Development Coordinator. With the responsibility to:
- Create and implement an annual Development Plan to maximize funding opportunities across multiple platforms and which is aligned with the organizations Mission and Values.
- Personally direct the cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of major high net worth donors through regular face-to-face interaction.
- Oversee the writing, designing and disseminating of our annual year end campaign.
- Oversee the management and strategic use of our donor CRM system, Salesforce.
- Oversee the management of our annual donor event, The Singular Feast.
- Implement a corporate partnership program, targeting large and small businesses.
- Collaborate with the Grant Writing Team and accountant on written proposals, grant applications, and grant reporting. Ensure that all grant-writing is aligned with the strategic goals of the organization.
- Report on goals and results on all revenue lines in the fundraising plan, suggesting and making amendments and changes where necessary.
Marketing/Communications/Public Relations:
Work with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and Development Coordinator to:
- Support the creation and implementation of an annual PR and marketing plan and associated material.
- Create, update and manage a communications plan that is aligned with the strategic plan.
- Respond to press inquiries on behalf of the organization, including interviews with the media.
- Oversee the maintenance of the website and social media.
- Ensure that the organization's brand is consistently and appropriately represented both internally and externally.
What You Bring:
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of fundraising and staff development.
- Growth Mindset: To ensure funding goals are achieved.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to navigate through complex situations, deal with changes in operating situations, develop creative solutions to situations that arise.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Deep experience in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Nonprofit Development or related fields.
- Ideally, 5–7 years nonprofit fundraising experience with reaching goals in excess of $2m per annum and in making personal asks for amounts in excess of $50,000.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and presentation.
- Experience in building and growing an effective Fundraising Development Plan and a collaborative team to implement and achieve that plan.
- Outgoing and engaging personality, demonstrating confidence in face-to-face interactions with community partners, supporters and donors.
- Detailed oriented with strong organizational, analytical, computer and donor database skills.
- Experience in working with diverse groups, donors, community partners, volunteers, board members.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Knowledge and awareness of Child Advocacy Programs.
- Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms.
- Proficiency in Salesforce Constant Contact and Adobe Creative Suite.
