SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Specialist I position is primarily responsible for informal counseling and individual and group skill- building for at-risk youth. The Program specialist I conducts an assessment of each participant's baseline skills, works with youth and family to create an individualized service plan. Coordinates with community resources to provide/facilitate cultural activities and programming to youth and their families. Provides information and referrals to families for additional services, as needed. Conducts outreach island-wide to identify potential partnerships and program participants. Works cooperatively as a member of an inert-disciplinary team. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.
- High School diploma with five (5) years of experience may substitute for a four-year college degree.
EXPERIENCE
- Over six months, up to and including one year
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate, coordinate groups of individuals for engaging group activities. Basic understanding and competency regarding Hawaiian host culture and various cultures represented in Hawaii.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract and continued employment may be contingent on maintaining a clear driver's abstract.
