Make an Impact as an Assistant Cook
You will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) for the center while supporting the Lead Cook and other Assistant Cooks as needed. You will work under the direction of the Head Cook or Assistant Cook with supervision from the Early Childhood Center Manager (ECCM) and share responsibility for compliance with all Head Start/Early Head Start and USDA CACFP guidelines and standards.

Position Details
Responsibilities
- Provides students with well-balanced and nutritious meals; Assists in the preparation and delivery of quality meals for all foods using standardized recipes; Sets up trays and assists in serving meals.
- Assists in purchasing and ordering of food and supplies.
- Cleans and sanitizes dishes, kitchen equipment, countertops and pantry
- Assists with ensuring the requirements in the area of meal service adhere to CACFP and HS/EHS guidelines
- Observes safe hygienic food handling and storage practices.
- Performs as Head Cook or Assistant Cook in their absence
- Assists with housekeeping duties
- Supports teaching staff in planning and implementing classroom cooking experiences
- Completes or projects and assignments as assigned
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with large groups required
- Demonstrates working knowledge of cooking methods that ensure proper nutrition and hygiene
- Prompt and regular attendance required
Travel and Compliance Requirements
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license
- Driving record must comply with CCG's automobile insurance carrier requirements
- Must have liability insurance coverage and reliable personal transportation
- Ability to travel locally or out of town as required
- Mileage reimbursement is offered when applicable
- Must successfully meet all compliance background check requirements for federal funding throughout employment
