Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Parent Educator, focusing on supporting and enhancing our programs aimed at assisting military families. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in facilitating STEP parenting classes, coordinating support groups, managing cases, and overseeing various activities tailored to the needs of military families. This position entails providing financial or basic need assistance to eligible families, while also serving as a liaison between the organization and military personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:
· Attend comprehensive training sessions to familiarize oneself with a diverse range of parenting and children's educational materials and curricula.
· Participate in additional training workshops as directed by the supervisor. Deliver virtual STEP educational classes using the STEP curricula across various platforms such as Zoom, GoToMeeting, and WebEx, as instructed by the supervisor.
· Prepare lesson plans in advance of each session.
· Serve as a backup to the Outreach Specialist in outreach and recruitment activities.
· Complete a minimum of 12 hours of in-service training (CEUs) annually related to job responsibilities.
· Record Outreach events in PEI for monthly reporting purposes.
· Provide basic needs services for Program and Community participants.
· Fulfill any additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Executive Management Team
· Facilitate STEP parenting classes aimed at providing effective parenting strategies and skills tailored to the unique challenges faced by military families.
· Coordinate and lead support groups to foster a supportive community environment and facilitate peer-to-peer support among military families.
· Provide comprehensive case management services, including assessing needs, developing individualized service plans, and connecting families with appropriate resources and services.
· Oversee various activities and events designed to enhance the well-being and resilience of military families, including workshops, seminars, and recreational outings.
· Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless delivery of services and support to military families.
· Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, participant progress, and outcomes achieved.
· Understand relevant policies, regulations, and best practices in the field of military family support and actively incorporate them into program development and implementation.
· Serve as a point of contact for military families seeking financial or basic need assistance, assessing eligibility criteria and providing guidance and support throughout the application process.
· Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions with military families.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
· Prior experience working with military families or in a similar capacity is highly desirable.
· Strong understanding of parenting education principles and practices, particularly as they relate to military families.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with case management software preferred.
· Sensitivity to the unique needs and challenges faced by military families, including deployment-related stressors and transitions.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
