Job Posting: Assistant Center Manager - Early Head Start
Location: Forbes Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Reports To: Center Director
Overview: Child Inc. is seeking a qualified Assistant Center Manager to support the day-to-day operations of an Early Head Start center. This role works alongside the Center Director to ensure effective center management, compliance with program regulations, and delivery of high-quality early childhood services. The Assistant Center Manager also helps oversee food services, supports classroom and parent engagement activities, and ensures that licensing and Head Start standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Center Operations:
- Process purchases and maintain accurate records in accordance with policies.
- Prepare and submit timely reports and documentation.
- Organize and support parent committee meetings.
- Ensure the implementation of center-wide programs including education, health, nutrition, family engagement, safety, and special services.
- Monitor child records for compliance with licensing and federal standards.
- Support the recruitment and enrollment of eligible children.
Program Compliance & Oversight:
- Stay current on regulations from Head Start, state licensing, and other governing bodies.
- Coordinate with staff and families to uphold program standards.
- Submit required forms and data to relevant department managers.
Monitoring & Planning:
- Assist with monitoring center budgets and expenditures.
- Evaluate program performance and assist with follow-up planning and coordination.
- Conduct and document observations, meetings, and required follow-ups.
Child Development & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records including assessments, screening tools, and documentation related to transitions and special needs referrals.
- Ensure timely and thorough communication of program information to staff and families.
Communication:
- Communicate clearly and appropriately in both written and verbal forms.
- Collaborate with staff and specialists to support home visits and family engagement activities.
- Represent the center professionally in all communications.
Professional Conduct:
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
Professional Growth:
- Attend team meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Seek ongoing feedback and pursue opportunities for skill development.
- Stay current on trends in early childhood education.
Other:
- Fulfill responsibilities related to child safety and mandated reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year classroom experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Head Start experience required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass criminal background checks and E-Verify.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience with parents and volunteer group engagement.
- Familiarity with federal and state childcare regulations.
