PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assists with the receiving, storing, maintaining inventory control and the issuing and delivering of food and other items to campus locations and assumes the responsibility of the Supervisor in his/her absence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Experience in warehousing, i.e. receiving, stocking, delivering, and inventory control procedures
- Valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, and proof of insurance on vehicle used to travel to district
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of pallet jack and forklift
- Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic
- Must be to be punctual and dependable
- Must be able to understand instructions and communicate in basic English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the proper storage and issue of materials and equipment
- Experience operating forklift, and other material handling equipment
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Assume the responsibility of warehouse supervisor in his absence
- Assist in filling school orders for food and other items
- Assist with delivery of food and other items to all campuses weekly
- Receive all materials ordered and unload all incoming deliveries for the department
- Check purchase orders against invoice and inventory
- Obtain authorized signatures for supplies
- Open crates and containers using hand tools and inspects shipments for damage or defects
- Sort and store items according to established procedures
- Correct unsafe conditions or needed repairs in work area and vehicles or equipment and reports any conditions that are not correctable to the Supervisor immediately
- On a daily basis, sweep and clean warehouse, including freezer and cooler.
- Clean truck (cab and bed) daily and oil bed every other week
- Load and unload delivery truck by hand or by use of hand truck
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs
- Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job

Equipment Used:
- Office equipment – personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position
- Warehouse equipment to include: ladder, dolly, scaffolding, forklift, pallet jack, box knife, and small hand tools
Mental Demands:
- Ability to read, concentrate, communicate effectively (verbally and written), interpret, reason, understand verbal instructions, memorize, coordinate, compile, compute, analyze, differentiate
- Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands:
- Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, driving, traveling.
- Occasional: Lifting, heavy, 45 pounds or more
Environmental Factors:
- Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration
- Chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dust smoke, etc.), and works around machinery with moving parts
- Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.),
- Work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces, work alone
- Work prolonged or irregular hours
