Position Summary
Our center is seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Teacher who will inspire our young learners, manage classroom activities, and ensure that we continue to provide exceptional care and education to the children in our community. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration, creativity, and social development.
As an Assistant Teacher, you will assist the lead teacher in any way possible including but not limited to
- Maintain classroom and related equipment safely and hygienically
- Uphold all safety standards.
- Help children with toileting/diaper changes as needed. (If applicable)
- Maintain a professional attitude, respecting family privacy at all times.
- Encourage children to participate in all activities
- Communicate with parents as needed to address progress/challenges.
- Distribute meals (prepared by cook) to children.
- Create and follow classroom curriculums and schedules for children.
- Support your center’s success by partnering with center staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Occasionally fulfill the role of a floater or breaker in a classroom.
Required Skills/Experience
- Must be able to pass a portable background check (DCYF) and TB test
- Current CPR, First Aid/HIV, Bloodborne Pathogens, and food handler’s certifications
- Creativity, compassion, and professionalism are a MUST.
- Physically able to perform tasks, including sitting on the floor, bending, and/or standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be registered with MERIT (DCYF) and have a STARS ID Number
- Required Education/Certification:
- High school diploma/Equivalent (required)
- Initial ECE Stackable certificate/Equivelant (required)
- 30 hours STARS Childcare Basics (required)

Shift:
Monday-Friday
Wage: $17-$22 /hour (based on credentials and experience)
