General Description:
The Marketing Writer is responsible for communicating the stories of the children we serve to partners, donors, volunteers, and the general public. Primary job duties include writing, editing, and posting marketing and communications materials: partner reports, blog stories, marketing emails, video scripts & descriptions, website & social content, and newsletters.
Job Description Detail:
- Research, conduct interviews for, and write blog post stories
- Manage all social media posting: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
- Social Media posts to promote concerts in addition to events, Venture trips and projects
- Write and edit content for COTN publications: newsletters, gift catalogs, appeal letters, proposal detail sheets, reports, speeches, and press releases
- Work with Marketing Manager on keyword selection for SEO website content
- Perform writing and editing work on Marketing and communications projects submitted by other departments (e.g., sponsor letters, Venture communications, etc.)
- Develop Instagram Takeover materials including a Job Description and Agreement Form for participants to sign
- Update monthly statistics document with website and social statistics
- Occassional scripting and video descriptions for Youtube videos
- Create posts to highlight volunteer of the month, resource item of the month, church partnership of the month.
- Create posts to promote Venture trips, upcoming events, and projects
- Provide input on communications projects and strategies
- Proof read and edit the work of other writers, offering suggestions for improvement
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong commitment to uphold COTN Mission and Vision statement and standards in communications, conduct, operations, policies & practices
- Demonstrated and sincere interest in all aspects of COTN’s ministry
- B.S./B.A. degree or equivalent
- Responsible, organized, detail-oriented
- Positive attitude, self-starter, personable, authentic, developer, observant, and fearless
- Ability to write compelling copy, excellent storyteller
- Must have strong presentation and communication skills; written and verbal
- High computer literacy. Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint; Google Apps (Drive, Calendar, Gmail, Sites)
