Residential Support Specialist

The Children & Family Advocacy Center, located in Little Flock, AR, works to empower those impacted by trauma by providing a safe place to receive comprehensive services through a coordinated team approach from dedicated trauma-informed professionals. We offer services in advocacy, mental health counseling, forensic interviewing, medical exams, and residential programming for women and their children.

The Residential Support Specialist will provide essential support and supervision to residents in our program, helping them navigate their daily routines, access resources, and achieve their goals as they progress through our program. On a given day this may include transporting women and children to appointments, coordinating meals, or connecting them with community resources to help them achieve their goals. Your work will be crucial in ensuring a supportive and positive living environment for the families we serve.

A Residential Support Specialist must be able to recognize behavior counterproductive to growth and healing; maintain confidentiality; must be 21 years of age; and must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities may include:

Resident Support: Supporting clients by building a safe and trustworthy relationship with residents to facilitate their success

Supervision: Enforce program rules and policies while maintaining a supportive and respectful environment.

Crisis Intervention: Work both independently and with the Residential Team to prepare for, respond to, and manage crises effectively.

Case Management: Assist residents in developing and following personalized action plans. Work directly with other residential support staff and case managers to track projects and provide updates on residents' needs and progress.

Life Skills Training: Facilitate life skills training and workshops, covering topics such as financial management, parenting, and personal development. Empower residents with the skills and knowledge they need for independent living.

Documentation: Comply with all organizational, state, and federal guidelines for documentation through the accurate, and confidential, keeping of records and correspondence.

Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including counselors, social workers, and healthcare providers, to coordinate care and services for residents. Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions.

Community Engagement: Maintain an up-to-date database of community resources to help residents access services like healthcare, education and employment opportunities. Support residents in building connections within the community.

Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field. Relevant certifications or training in trauma-informed care or crisis intervention are a plus.

Previous experience working with children and families, preferably in a residential or supportive setting.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and provide empathetic support to residents.

Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain detailed records.

Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively, while ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
