What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Therapy Coordinator position at Children's Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida?
The Children’s Advocacy Center of SW Florida (CAC) is a busy non-profit agency located in Fort Myers serving Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades Counties. At CAC, we offer abuse determination services for children as well as therapeutic counseling, parenting education, and prevention programs.
CAC is seeking a qualified full-time Pet Therapy Coordinator for Beesley’s Paw Prints Pet Therapy Program. This position will recruit, coordinate, and schedule volunteer Handlers and their certified therapy dogs to act as comfort and support for clients at CAC as well as at various partner locations in the community.
General Responsibilities (full job description will be provided upon interview) :
- Develops, maintains, and implements Beesley’s Paw Prints Pet Therapy Program’s daily operations.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers and therapy / reading dogs for the program.
- Coordinates scheduling of handlers and volunteers with appropriate sites.
- Coordinates all aspects of the puppy sitting program under the Beesely’s Paw Prints program.
- Completes all forms and background paperwork for all volunteers.
- Completes data collection and monthly program activity reports.
- Builds, develops, and maintains relationships with United Way, Gulf Coast Humane Society, and other community partners.
- Participates in partner events to further the goals of the program.
- Identifies new partnerships for Beesley’s Paw Prints Pet Therapy Program.
- Works with United Way and CAC
- Conducts community presentations to enhance awareness of the program.
- Attends community meetings and outreach events as needed.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the Pet Therapy Program.
- Ensures Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is complete and up to date.
- Conduct community and agency training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education an d / or Work Experience Requirements :
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or Human Services related field is preferred, and at least one year of experience in the social services or medical field. Two years of previous experience in the field of volunteer coordination and developing relationships with a variety of professionals in varied settings. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
