Title: Development Manager (Full-Time, Exempt)
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Occasional attendance at events outside standard hours may be required. The office operates on a hybrid schedule, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays, and in-office work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This schedule may adjust to meet business needs.

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
With the expansion of our operations to two rehearsal sites in Washington, DC, and corresponding increases in student numbers, CCW seeks a Development Manager to support the growth of its fundraising operation.
Overview:
The Development Manager will implement a strategic fundraising program to meet CCW’s goals for contributed income. In partnership with the Executive Director and supported by a Development Consultant, the Development Manager will steward existing relationships while identifying and cultivating new supporters of CCW’s mission.
The ideal candidate has experience working in arts nonprofit fundraising, possesses strong analytical, organizational, time management, and communication skills, shows excellent attention to detail, and demonstrates creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment to CCW’s mission. They should have experience in fundraising from diverse sources, and an eagerness to learn current philanthropic best practices.
Principal Responsibilities:
Individual Giving – 40%
- Develop and execute strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, including major donors, recurring donors, and new prospects.
- Create compelling cases for support and develop print, digital, and video fundraising materials, including seasonal appeals, online campaigns, and year-end solicitations.
- Utilize technology and social media to enhance individual giving campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Development Consultant to identify a portfolio of individual donors for cultivation and outreach by the Executive Director.
- Oversee the donor stewardship and gift acknowledgment process, ensuring timely and personalized communications.
Grant Management – 40%
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
- Oversee the drafting, submission, and tracking of grant proposals, ensuring compliance with all requirements and deadlines.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with grant managers and program officers.
- Manage grant fulfillment and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submission of all required documentation.
- Explore new grant opportunities, including those outside the arts, to diversify funding sources.
Board and Staff Relations – 20%
- Work with the Executive Director and Board to support development-related committees.
- Liaise with the Development Committee Chair to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director and program departments to brainstorm and develop fundraising campaigns that support new initiatives.
- Assist the Executive Director and Operations Manager in creating and maintaining contributed revenue and expense budgets and complete project budgets and reports for grant funding organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a development role, ideally within an arts environment.
- Proficiency with CRM and fundraising software, Google Suite, and Mailchimp.
- Collaborative approach with excellent written and oral communication skills.
COMPENSATION:
The annual salary for this position is $55,000. CCW offers a competitive benefits package, including a 401k match, health, vision, and dental insurance, generous PTO, and a flexible working schedule.
