What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at Children's Corner Academy, Inc.?
The Early Childhood Teacher will lead and/or assist with materials and lessons covered in the classroom to facilitate student learning. Hours are full-time, Monday - Friday. The Teacher must be patient and loving towards all the students, with the right attitude to lead and/or help in a classroom setting. Our staff is a positive, encouraging team that teaches through hands-on experiences that introduce a love of learning.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides and assists in classroom instruction and management.
- Leads with classroom activities and lessons.
- Works with individual students who require additional or modified instruction.
- Escorts students to other areas of the school such as the playground or other classrooms; monitor their behavior during recess and lunchtime.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, cognitive and physical needs on a daily basis.
- Implement curriculum and planning daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for children.
- Engage daily in age-appropriate activities and play that stimulates children’s development.
- Assist/supervise children with activities of daily life (meals, restroom, hand washing, first aid, diapers, etc.).
- Appropriately supervise children in the classroom and playground keeping activities safe at all times; maintaining a proper ratio.
- Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children.
- Communicate with the other teacher(s) regarding all aspects of the children’s care as well as classroom management.
- Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide excellent services.
- Maintain a professional self-image.
- Be a positive role model and a supportive partner to all the staff and children.
- Must be punctual and have minimal absences.
- Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities.
- Be able to fulfill the hours of employment.
- Have dependable transportation.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required; Associates degree or two years of college in early childhood education or child development highly preferred; CDA preferred
- Must pass a background check.
- Maintain 18 hours of yearly training.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to navigate all areas of the school quickly including indoor and outdoor areas.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull and carry children up to 30 lbs.
- Able to observe, see, hear and respond to children’s needs, emergencies and conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on the playground, in bathrooms, and in common areas.
- Able to reach a child 20-30 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to the staff person’s health.
