The Sand Hill Summer Program is seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to support our specialized summer learning program for students in grades 2-8 with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, and anxiety. Volunteers will assist with classroom activities, preparation work, and student supervision, ensuring a safe and engaging environment. Ideal candidates are patient, adaptable, and team-oriented, with prior experience working with children in any setting (school, camp, after-school programs, tutoring, etc.). Volunteers should be comfortable moving throughout the day and assisting where needed.
This volunteer position runs for 4 weeks (June 9th through July 3rd). Training will take place on Friday, June 6th, 2025. This is an unpaid volunteer position.

This volunteer position runs for 4 weeks (June 9th through July 3rd). Training will take place on Friday, June 6th, 2025. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
Essential Functions:
- Assist teachers with classroom preparation, including making copies, cutting materials, and organizing supplies.
- Support STEAM, reading, and math activities by helping set up and work with small groups of students supervised by teachers
- Supervise and engage with students during snack and recess, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
- Help maintain a clean and organized learning space throughout the day.
- Work collaboratively with staff to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
- Follow program guidelines and expectations to ensure a structured and supportive environment.
- Encourage and assist students in transitioning between activities smoothly.
- Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude when working with students.
- Be punctual and reliable, arriving on time and staying for the full shift.
- Participate in the training session on Friday, June 6, to prepare for the program.
- Worked with children in an education or camp setting, at minimum in a volunteer capacity.
- Calm, compassionate, caring, understanding.
- Flexible and Adaptable.
- Team-oriented.
- Experience working with children (strongly preferred).
- Completed at least 1 year of post high school college coursework.
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- This program runs from June 9th, 2025, through July 3rd, 2025 at our San Hill School in Palo Alto.
- Volunteers in this role are expected to provide support from 8:00am-1:00pm Monday through Friday.
- Extensive interpersonal interaction with staff and outside contacts.
