Summary
The Business Continuity Specialist (BCS) assists in providing guidance to clinical, ancillary, and business units to complete actionable plans in cases of business disruption. Working under the direction of Director of Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity and the Business Continuity Manager, assists in the development and implementation of departmental Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and campus Continuity of Operations Plans (COOPs) that ensure Children's Health can respond to disasters to make certain that operations resume within a defined period of time and the amount of infrastructure and revenue loss is minimized. The BCS partners in the maintenance of and exercising departmental specific BCP processes, implementing organizational changes into the COOPs, assists with training staff on plans and procedures, and maintaining continuity program documentation.

Responsibilities
- Collaborating with the Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness Team, ensures operational readiness by supporting mitigation and recovery efforts across the system.
- Coordinates with Emergency Preparedness/Business Continuity leaders in the planning and facilitating of exercises at the system and departmental level at least annually, or after a significant event leading to necessary revisions to the plans.
- Schedules and organizes various aspects of the business impact analysis (BIA) planning sessions, documenting identified recovery time objectives, and establishing resources required in order to return to normal business operations.
- Works in partnership with the Emergency Management Program to research information based on best practices or opportunities identified for Children's Health emergency response plans and incident response guidelines.
- Develops and documents business continuity training for personnel. Supports departmental leaders in ensuring BCPs are accurate, and all disaster call back contacts, order of succession, exercises, actual events and plan revisions are documented in the BCPs.
- Works with Emergency Preparedness and specialized departments to maintain a list of Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's) for alternate care sites.
- Partners with the Emergency Preparedness team, Children's Health IS and the disaster recovery team to implement best practices to protect, respond through downtime efforts, and restore data and systems after an event.
- Identifies and implements recovery operations and methods to allow the company to function at limited or partial capacity if part of all of the infrastructure is damaged or destroyed.
- Serves on select CHST committees and initiatives to maintain a culture of preparedness.
- Supports the overall Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity portfolio and other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

EDUCATION
- Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Business Continuity, Emergency Management, Healthcare administration or related field Required
- Business Continuity Certified Planner (BCCP) or Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Level 1 Professional Continuity Practitioner 1 Year Required
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Level 2 Master Continuity Practitioner within 3 years Required
