Job Description
Effectively manages responsibilities for area of the neuroscience program. Develops, implements, and supports research process by gathering data specific to subspecialty and as required by sponsored clinical trials. Performs nursing practice, professional development, and community education activities. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Experience
3 years of experience as a pediatric staff nurse with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and / or bachelor's degree in related field or 5 years of experience without a bachelor's degree and actively pursuing degree and / or specialty certification
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of neurology disease states
Education
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Certification Summary
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact or current Georgia temporary permit
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and perform as the team coordinator
Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrates expert clinical knowledge and functions as a resource in the provision of family-centered care to patients from newborn through age 21 years, considering the emotional, psychological, educational, and developmental needs of the patient.
Promotes, utilizes, and facilitates proficient communication, coordination, and collaboration for patient care, departmental, and interdepartmental issues.
Provides for continuity of care for patients being followed by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta specially clinics.
Functions as an educator, resource person, coordinator of care / activities, and role model for other members of the healthcare team.
Functions as an educator, resource person, and community advocate on the neuroscience specialty / disease state and in support of individuals with neurological impairment.
Coordinates the design, development, implementation, and collection of data for approved research protocols consistent with standards set by the Institutional Review Board, Clinical Research Coordination Committee, trial sponsors, and Food and Drug Administration.
Coordinates support group with identified facilitator from social work department.
Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), AD = Adult, and ALL = all ages.
Includes family / caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
