This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office. We leverage a hybrid working model working three days in the office, two days optional remote work.
What You’ll Do
Children’s Hospital Association is growing. The Director of Analytics Data Governance will lead data governance activities for CHA’s comparative data programs, developing and implementing strategies that ensure data quality, consistency, standardization and security, enhancing the value of our data programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Analytics & Data Strategy, this role will leverage extensive collaboration with hospital data teams and program leads to evaluate and establish processes that ensure the integration of data across programs.
- Establish and oversee a data governance framework aligned with CHA’s business goals to ensure data quality, consistency, standardization, and security.
- Design and implement processes that support Master Data Management (MDM), ensuring data is understood, trusted, controlled, and purposeful.
- Evaluate and update CHA data policies, standards, principles, and processes to maintain high-quality and secure healthcare data.
- Create and maintain common metric definitions, data dictionaries, and quality rules that support robust data standards.
- Organize and optimize the processes by which data is collected, shared, utilized, protected, cleaned, and stored.
- Serve as the data governance subject-matter expert, providing high-level advice and counsel on data governance initiatives and best practices.
- Lead the development and delivery of targeted governance training for staff and program participants.
- Analyze data workflow processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve outcomes.
- Engage with CHA analytics leadership, hospital data teams, and program leads to identify gaps, synergies, and areas for process improvement.
- Lead the ingestion, transformation, standardization, and quality assessment for CHA’s comparative data programs, serving as the owner and primary representative for CHA’s comparative data program submission.
- Oversee the evaluation, selection, and management of third-party vendor services that support data program operations.
- Represent data submission interests on CHA’s Change Advisory Board, ensuring alignment with governance and operational objectives.
What You’ll Bring To CHA
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, health informatics, or another relevant discipline required; master's degree preferred.
- 8 years of relevant progressive professional experience in health care data management.
- Proven experience leading a team responsible for the ingestion, curation, sharing, and archiving of health care data.
- Demonstrated success in creating and implementing data governance processes and plans in a healthcare environment.
Skills and Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of clinical data standards (e.g., LOINC, SNOMED-CT, ICD-10, RxNORM) and associated specifications (e.g., C-CDA, FHIR), as well as familiarity with organizations like HL7.
- Working knowledge of healthcare privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, GLB) and data protection best practices.
- Experience with major hospital data systems; pediatric data experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, business intelligence, and data analytics.
- Excellent project management, process improvement, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to diverse stakeholder needs and cultivate strong professional partnerships through excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
