Job Overview

The Gaming Technology Specialist builds relationships with patients and their families through gaming system and recreational play therapy. The Specialist develops, coordinates and implements gaming related programs that support CHCO’s Child Life and Seacrest Studio goals and objectives.

The Gaming Technology Specialist is part of the Children's Hospital Colorado Child Life team and is responsible for providing overall gaming implementation, strategy, training, and technical support (various XR platforms, PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox, PC, iPads, etc.). This role leads installing, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting gaming systems, peripherals, and related hardware within the context of the Child Life Department, along with documenting and assessing the use of these technologies in clinical application (from recreational play to procedural support and everything in between). The Gaming Technology Specialist serves as part of the Extended Reality Program, a group of multidisciplinary leaders spearheading the use of XR tech in the hospital.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in the gaming field and/or health care setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides overall gaming implementation, strategy, training and technical support to the program.
  • Creates and leads the life cycle of system implementation and upkeep, including the installation, training and technical support
  • Utilizes industry knowledge to implement best practices on all applicable gaming systems, equipment, and emerging technologies
  • Disseminates technical knowledge, including formal training across the Child Life team and other individuals and departments across the hospital
  • Coordinates the development and maintenance of departmental resources
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, updates and repairs gaming systems and related peripheral equipment
  • Coordinates with clinicians to develop care plans related to gaming in both inpatient and outpatient setting
  • Works closely with patients and families to deploy appropriately-assigned gaming technologies
  • Collaborates with team members on research related to gaming system implementation and outcomes with relation to patient care
  • Serves as a representative of the program between program, department, CHCO and community partners.
  • Leads special projects involving gaming and XR technologies, including but not limited to presentations for leadership, donors, partners, and other key stakeholders

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $58,936.54 to $88,404.82
Hourly Salary Range: $28.33 to $42.50
