Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of children to and from elementary schools and ensuring that children have a safe and nurturing environment in our afterschool care program. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with children.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport children to and from designated locations, ensuring their well-being at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus environment, conducting regular inspections to ensure safety standards are met.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding schedules and any changes that may occur.
- Monitor the behavior of children during transit to ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere.
- Assist children in boarding and disembarking the bus as needed, providing support for those with special needs or requiring additional assistance.
- Implement first aid procedures when necessary and maintain knowledge of emergency protocols.
- Engage with children positively to foster a supportive environment that encourages learning and development.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camps, or sports coaching is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles is a plus, along with any experience in special education or theater programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to educate and guide children effectively.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required; prior bus driving experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining focus on safety and care for the children being transported.
