Founded in Philadelphia in 1988, Children's Literacy Initiative (CLI) is a national 501c3 working to advance equity in public education in the U.S. by ensuring Black and Latinx children achieve reading success by the end of third grade. CLI accomplishes this through job-embedded coaching and professional development, seminars, and workshops, and providing the books and materials teachers and children need along their early literacy journeys.

Position Summary :
Children's Literacy Initiative (CLI) is recruiting an experienced and passionate Associate Director of School Partnerships and Support to provide strategic leadership and support partners implementing CLI's core service model, ensuring high-quality implementation and sustainable impact through individual contributions and team management. Collaborating closely with school and systems leaders, educators; you will manage the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CLI's core service model. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing a team of CLI managers of school partnerships & support- providing feedback, mentorship, professional development / coaching, and support to ensure effective coaching and implementation practices that drive literacy outcome improvements within partner schools / systems.
Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership & Oversight
- Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for school partnerships and support initiatives aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
- Supervise, coach, and develop the Manager of School Partnerships and Support to ensure high-quality execution of partnership strategies.
- Develop and refine systems, structures, and protocols to enhance the effectiveness of school partnerships and ensure seamless coordination with internal teams.
Partnership Development & Management
Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with school districts, charter networks, and other educational organizations to expand and strengthen partnerships.Lead efforts to assess partner needs, aligning services and resources to maximize impact on student achievement and educator development.Negotiate, execute, and oversee partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and sustainability.Program Implementation & Impact
Oversee the implementation of partnership programs and services, ensuring high-quality execution and measurable impact.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align partnership work with professional learning, coaching, and curriculum implementation efforts.Utilize data-driven decision-making to assess program effectiveness, refine strategies, and enhance outcomes for schools and districts.Monitor partnership satisfaction and proactively address challenges, ensuring high renewal rates and long-term commitment from partners.Lead efforts to assess partner needs, aligning services and resources to maximize impact on student achievement and educator development.Develop and execute a strategy for growing and retaining partnerships, ensuring strong and sustainable relationships with school districts, charter networks, and other educational organizations.Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and support the Manager of School Partnerships and Support, providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.Foster a collaborative team culture that promotes excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in partnership engagement and service delivery.Ensure alignment and coordination between the School Partnerships and Support team and other organizational departments.Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and public forums to elevate the visibility of partnership efforts.Advocate for policies and practices that support opportunities for excellent literacy for every child.Serve as a thought partner to internal and external stakeholders on best practices in school partnership development and support.Qualifications :
Significant leadership experience (10 years) in ECE education (birth- 5 yrs), nonprofit organizations, or education consulting.Experience in partnership development with school districts, charter networks, and educational organizations.Demonstrated success in program implementation and managing initiatives that drive measurable student achievement outcomes.Strong background in literacy education and professional development for educators, leaders and CLI team members.Proven ability to develop and execute strategies that align with organizational goals and drive impact in partnerships.Deep experience leading and coaching teams, particularly in managing and developing direct reports who are instructional leaders.Ability to build and refine systems and structures to improve program effectiveness and collaboration.Exceptional interpersonal skills to cultivate and sustain relationships with school leaders, district administrators, and external stakeholders.Strong negotiation skills for executing and managing partnership agreements.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to represent the organization effectively in public forums.Flexibility and adaptability to navigate the evolving needs of school districts and partners.Data driven- using data often to assess impact and refine strategies to enhance student achievement and educator development.Experience monitoring partnership satisfaction and proactively addressing challenges to ensure long-term collaboration.Travel up to 25% within assigned PortfolioChildren's Literacy Initiative is an Equal Opportunity Employer
