Overview

The Children’s Mercy Autism Clinic is the largest autism diagnostic clinic in the region, and also provides evidence-based supports and community-focused education and navigation services. The Clinic is housed within the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health, which includes over 50 psychologists, 7 developmental pediatricians, 10 child/adolescent psychiatrists, master’s and doctoral level board certified behavior analysts, and other allied professionals who support the care of children and families impacted by mental/behavioral health issues (ADHD and disruptive behavior, developmental disabilities, internalizing disorders, PTSD, sleep problems, etc.) and/or pediatric illness (chronic pain, cancer, GI, etc.).

 

The Education Coordinator serves as a role model, consultant, change agent, and facilitator in assessing learning needs and in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for CMH and the Community. This position involves the development, implementation, teaching, and ongoing improvement of the Developmental and Behavioral programs. The education coordinator will work with a multi-disciplinary team including psychologists, research assistants, and other clinic staff. This person will advance evidence based practice in the service of youth with developmental and behavioral concerns.

This position will also support the education of clinical providers on community resources, collaborate on quality improvement work to improve education delivery, engage in community outreach activities and support clinic and institutional initiatives.

If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of education and navigation support to families served through the Autism Clinic following a new diagnosis
  • Educating families on how to navigate Missouri and Kansas developmental disability service systems
  • Sharing knowledge about behavioral health and crisis supports
  • Supporting the education of clinical providers on community resources
  • Collaborating on quality improvement work to improve education delivery
  • Community outreach activities (e.g., in-person and virtual presentations)
  • Supporting clinic and institutional behavioral health initiatives

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or current professional credentials in an allied health area (e.g., social work)
  • Knowledge of developmental disability and mental health service systems
  • Awareness of evidence-based practices for youth with autism and developmental disabilities
  • Experience related to youth, adults, or families with developmental/behavioral needs
  • Experience supporting diverse populations

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $26.80/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
