Assistant Operations Manager
- Reports To: Operations Manager
- Status: Full-Time (32-40 hrs)
- Salary: $18/hour, nonexempt

Potential Shifts: Weekdays & Weekends (Tuesday-Sunday), and events as available. 8-9 hour shifts
Tuesday-Thursday: 8:30AM-4:30 PM
Friday: 8:30AM-7:30PM (depending on party scheduling)
Saturday: 9:30 AM-7:30 PM (depending on party scheduling)
Sunday: 9:30 AM-4:30 PM (depending on party scheduling)
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for leading shifts and adhering to the Museum’s standard of operation and providing excellent guest experiences. This individual will support the Operations Manager by contributing to the daily operations of the Museum, specifically the exhibit floor (including oversight of the exhibit floor staff), admissions desk, facilities maintenance such as cleaning and minor repairs, scheduling events such as parties, facility rentals, and field trips. When acting as manager on duty, the Assistant Operations Manager ensures a fully operational facility that fosters an inclusive environment for staff and guests. To ensure a positive customer experience, part of the full-time work week will include weekends per scheduled events and staffing needs. They will participate in weekly team meetings and work closely with the Operations Manager when developing shift schedules and providing recommendations for procedural improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead shifts per set procedures and schedules developed by the Ops Mngr
- Overseeing Guest Services Team in daily functions:
- Cashier
- Floor Assistant
- Birthday Buddy
- Ensures excellent guest experiences by adhering to SOPs and guiding team members to do the same
- Ensure daily task checklists are completed & turned in to the Executive Director
- Assist with opening/closing procedures, ensuring everything is completed
- Facilities Tasks routinely performed and reported to Ops Mngr
- Oversees relationships amongst weekend team members & keeps Ops Mngr informed of necessary actions of correction and training
- Provides weekend reports covering any important facilities/staff updates
- Assists with training new staff members after onboarding, reports progress/necessary corrective actions to Ops Mngr
- Ensures programs run smoothly during weekend with direction from Ops Mngr/Programming Coordinator
- Ensures Museum security at the end of each shift by locking all doors, security checks, and setting the alarm
- Assists with scheduling field trips and birthday parties as directed by Ops Mngr
- Other duties as assigned
Experience/Skills Preferred:
- Past shift leader/key holder experience
- 1 year(s) cashiering/customer service experience
- Adequate computer skills, knowledge of google suite
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Bilingual
- Childcare/teaching experience
- Interest in nonprofit organizations
