Position Summary
Within a team environment, this position is responsible for developing, designing and fabricating exhibit components, experiences and artworks. This position will be a part of an active design/build team that creates original fixtures, furnishings and exhibits (FFE), as well as maintains and repairs said FFE. In this role, the Exhibit Design/Build Specialist will support and collaborate with the CMP designers, technical staff and visiting artists to build unique, robust components and mechanisms for permanent and traveling exhibits and experiences.
Essential Job Functions
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field such as industrial design, art, or architecture. Relevant work experiences will also be considered.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a field related to design, fabrication, installation or comparable experience. A portfolio to support a variety projects and approaches is required.
Skills
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials is required.
Position requires moving regularly and consistently during construction and maintenance of exhibits. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. Occasionally lifts 70-100 lbs which may be done with assistance.
The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Position Summary

Essential Job Functions
- Fabricate and assemble parts based on drawings while modifying dimensions, tolerances, and finishes based on an understanding of each part's function in an assembly.
- Efficiently design and build original prototypes, components and experiences from sketches, drawings or verbal descriptions.
- Work with design staff and visiting artists to provide feedback on exhibit and installation design, feasibility, and scheduling.
- Work with technical staff to improve existing exhibit components, including design changes and fabricating new parts.
- Work with technical staff to keep shops clean, organized and safe.
- Budget forecasting, managing, and reconciling of expenses for each project.
- Provide immediate, on-site technical and maintenance support for the exhibits and artworks on view.
- Install/deinstall new exhibits and artworks seasonally.
Qualifications

- Proficiency using Fusion 360 CAD software
- Operate manual and CNC woodworking, machining, and metalworking machinery and maintain tooling.
- Experience designing and building PCBs
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Project planning and time estimating
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills

- On-site; Monday - Friday
- This position requires exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials as follows: Wood, metal, and plastic dust. Welding and cutting fumes. Chemicals (cutting fluids, paints, solvents, fluxes, industrial gasses). Loud machinery.
