What are the responsibilities and job description for the Perfusionist position at Children's of Alabama?
- Job Summary
- This classification collegially cooperates with other departments working to optimize patient care . Responsible for conducting Cardio-Pulmonary Bypass and its adjunct procedures that are associated in the Cardiovascular operating rooms. Participates in the care of the neonatal - adult congenital patient populations. Participates in the initiation , rounding and consultation of Cardiac ECMO services. Acts as preceptor and assists in the didactic training of ECMO and Ventricular Assist Devices. Participates in the preceptorship of students from accredited perfusion schools during their rotations at Children’s Hospital of Alabama. Responds to the unique need of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent patients, as the need arises.
- Education
- This classification requires graduation from an accredited Perfusion program.
- Experience
- Minimum of 2 years ECMO and VAD experience preferred. Up to five year Perfusion experience preferred.
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
- Must be eligible for or certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
