Licensed Mental Health Practitioner
The CSH Staff Counselor is a licensed Mental Health Professional (Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Registered Play Therapist. Associates are encouraged to apply as well) with 3-5 years clinical experience who will:
1) Provide counseling services to child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse (as defined by the Texas Family Code) and witnesses of violent crime and their non-offending family members and caregivers. Counseling services will include:
- Individual, family and group therapy (for ages 2-18 and adults)
- Crisis counseling as needed, including as part of the post forensic process when requested
2) Maintain awareness and application of specific Texas License Code of Ethics and HIPPA.
3) Maintain appropriate documentation regarding client’s participation, progress and treatment plans.
4) Maintain education of evidence based modalities with trauma treatment and completion of CEU (Continued Education Credits) for license requirements. Seek TFCBT certification after required training is completed.
5) Maintain regular contact while following appropriate limits of confidentiality with the Multi Disciplinary Team, Interagency team[DFPS and CSH] . Refer to Family Code re: MDT and Licensing Code of Ethics.
6) Participate in case staffing pertaining to child abuse investigations, progress in therapy and treatment recommendations when needed. Required to actively participated in CCR meetings.
7) Provide court testimony in civil and criminal cases pertaining to clients seen at Children’s Safe Harbor.
8) Maintain current knowledge of other professional mental health providers /resources which may be appropriate for referral.
9) Able to provide information and referral assistance to client and caregivers, which may include additional case management.
10) Meet regularly and participate with the Clinical Director and/or Clinical Coordinator for Clinical Case Review, treatment-planning, case consultation, department development activities and debriefing.
11) Collaborate with Department Director in development and tracking of client treatment outcomes within designated time frames.
12) Administers trauma based assessments to client every 12 sessions and Caregiver surveys every 6 sessions.
