Join the Psychiatry and Psychology Division of Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia. CHKD is lighting the way to a brighter future for our children by transforming the way mental health care is delivered to children and teens. As part of CHKD’s commitment to address a critical mental health crisis among youth, the health system is building a $224 million, 60-bed mental health hospital, which includes a partial hospitalization program and robust outpatient services.
Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) and CHKD are seeking full-time inpatient clinical psychologists committed to delivering high-quality care to join our acute general psychiatric unit interdisciplinary treatment teams. The psychologist (PhD or PsyD) will consult to the inpatient milieus and treatment teams to align behavioral plans and treatment goals, direct and lead group therapies, and provide evidence-based treatment and assessment to children and families. The psychologist will possess teaching skills required to train, supervise a variety of learners, and participate in staff training, curriculum development, and evaluation. Faculty appointments at Eastern Virginia Medical School are available for qualified individuals.
Experience, Education, and Training Requirements:
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, either PsyD or PhD from an APA/CPA accredited program, as well as completion of an APA/CPA accredited internship.
- Experience conducting psychological evaluations and psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults.
- Experience and comfort working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience providing clinical supervision to mental health providers.
- Must be licensed (or license eligible) as a Clinical Psychologist by the Virginia Board of Psychology.
- Certification and advanced training in these modalities preferred: Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Advanced training in other modalities also considered.
