Children's Theatre of Charlotte is a national leader among theatres by placing equal emphasis on innovative educational initiatives for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school students. Our summer camp is part of this theatre education experience.

- You must secure and provide your own housing in Charlotte.
- You must be able to provide your own transportation to and from the theatre and/or the summer satellite locations.
- You will be granted time off only for personal emergencies (illness, death in the family, etc.).
- Compensation advertised is non-negotiable.
- You must be available to commit to the timeline listed below and available to work 40 hours per week.
SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR POSITION
Compensation: $13/hour. You will be scheduled for no less than 40 hours per week.
Time Commitment: May 27 - August 15, 2025 (No camp the week of June 30 - July 4)
Weekly Availability: Monday-Friday - 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Camp Counselors will supervise campers aged 3-11, with occasional oversight of ages 12-18. Responsibilities include classroom assistance, managing drop-off/pick-up, snack time, post-care, and administrative tasks. Counselors may also have opportunities to observe and collaborate with our professional Teaching Artists. The role reports to the Education Operations and Administrative Manager and works closely with the Education Department.
As a member of our Summer Camp Team, you will gain the following:
- Acquire practical experience managing summer camp operations in a large professional theatre company, supporting programs that engage thousands of children and teens annually.
- Gain insights into classroom management, structure, and diverse teaching methods by observing and assisting professional teaching artists. Develop skills to adapt theatre instruction for different age groups and tailor curriculum to meet varying student needs.
- Engage students in theatre games and lessons during downtime and aftercare, providing an opportunity to apply and refine your teaching skills in a hands-on environment..
- Receive training in fostering inclusive classrooms and effectively supporting students with special needs, those on the spectrum, or requiring trauma-informed care.
- Work in a professional theatre environment with one-on-one and group access to Children's Theatre of Charlotte arts leadership.
- Be in the room where it happens! You will have access to new play development workshops and readings that occur each summer at Children's Theatre of Charlotte.

SUMMER ADMINISTRATIVE COUNSELOR POSITION
Compensation: $14/hour. You will be scheduled for no less than 40 hours per week.

Weekly Availability: Monday-Friday - 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Our Summer Administrative Counselors handle many of the administrative duties for summer camp. These include generating camp materials such as rosters, name tags, crafts, scripts, and mailings while maintaining communication with parents, Teaching Artists, and summer staff. Administrative Counselors provide direct support to Summer Camp Counselors and Teaching Artists by assisting with student supervision during camp sessions. This position reports directly to the Education Operations and Administrative Manager and the Summer Administrative Coordinator.
Requirements
Camp Counselor Job Requirements:
- Minimum of one completed year of college required.
- Background in theatre or education preferred.
- Classroom experience working with a variety of ages.
- Reliable transportation.
- Comfortable with administrative duties.
- Experience with customer service and/or interacting with parents of young people.
- Ability to maintain moderate physical activity, including lifting up to ___ pounds and being on your feet for most of a 40-hour work week, while moving between locations.
Summer Administrative Counselor Job Requirements:
- A minimum of two years of completed college coursework is required.
- Background in theatre, education, or administration preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Suites (Google Docs, Sheets, Google Forms, etc.).
- Strong phone etiquette is required.
- Experience in youth programming and working with young children is required.
- Detail oriented, organized, and unflappable under pressure
- Experience with customer service and/or interacting with parents of children and teens.

- Provide an example of a time you had to deal with an angry parent or customer? Include how you handled the conflict and how it was resolved.
