Summary
The Family Recruitment Specialist works with the Director of Family Engagement to develop, execute, and manage information meetings, presentations, volunteer ambassadors and other community engagement actives that build awareness for and recruit new foster, therapeutic, resource, and adoptive families for CHS. The Family Recruitment Specialist is ultimately responsible for the number of families who apply with CHS in their region.
Primary Job Functions

Recruitment
- Responsible for increasing the number of families who are in the process of applying with CHS through engaging new families and building partnerships.
- Excite and engage new families to become involved in CHS.
- Track new family applications
- Develop and maintain relationships with civic, faith, business, and other community organizations to build awareness about the need for families.
- Coordinate special events (i.e. National Adoption Month), document, and participate in public speaking engagements to increase agency visibility and collaborations.
- Organize, facilitate, and document bimonthly Information Sessions.
- Conduct individual information sessions as needed.
- Maintain a strong understanding of FAQs on becoming a foster parent, continually learning from the manual as questions arise.
- Follow-up on and document all Foster Care to Permanency inquiries, sending out applications when necessary.
- Be available to conduct training for MAPP/DT
- Create, manage, and document a regional CHS Ambassadors Program
- Utilize data on CHS capacity and county need to drive the recruitment plan
- Work closely with the Director of Family Engagement and the Marketing Team to track the marketing plan efforts in targeted areas

- Perform other duties related to the Childrens Home Society, Recruitment Team goals and projects as needed.
- Maintain valid NC Drivers license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle in order to attend to CHS business.
- Displays sensitivity to the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. At CHS, we recruit and work with all types of families.
- Demonstrate the CHS Mission, Vision, and Values in the performance of all job duties.
- Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, training, and education, as well as the quality process.
- Comply with CHSs code of conduct, policies, procedures, and other obligations.
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
- Have a minimum of an Associates degree from an accredited college/university, preferably a Bachelors degree.
Experience:
- Two years of experience of working in a role that includes recruiting, training, sales, or public speaking and presentations or combination of professional experience combined with lived experience in child welfare system (Preferred)

- Have a commitment to meeting the needs of the 4,000 children referred to CHS for a family placement every year.

- Excellent relationship building and relationship management skills.
- Understand that this job will require some evening and weekend hours.
- Ability to lift 50lbs for the purposes of setting up events/festivals.

Ability to:
- Ability to work independently from a home office and maintain adherence to deadlines.
- Must be physically able to use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
- Must be physically able to transport clients in own vehicle, conduct on-site visits, and able to lift/move up to 50 pounds while supporting needs of the clients
- Frequent travel required
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours
- Maintain a valid North Carolina drivers license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle to attend to CHS business
Schedule Expectations
This position is a salary exempt job that will require some weekends, and evenings work. Along with working our standard scheduled week. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours as required. Frequent travel required to conduct business-related activities.
