Program Overview:

Funded through the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), the Work Learn and Grow Environment Corp (WLGEC) intends to provide youth 16-19 years old with paid employment experiences and a set of work-related experiences in the green sector that prepare them to succeed in employment by: developing social skills, learning work norms and culture, understanding career pathways and decision points, building professional networks, and learning to manage money.

Summary of responsibilities:

The Program Aide will work with the Older Youths (aged 16-19) and report directly to the Program Director.

  • Act as a liaison between CPC, worksites, and community members
  • Resolve issues at worksites and/or with community members
  • Assist with administrative aspects of the WLGEC program with recruitment, enrollment, data entry, compiling, filing, and organizing worksites and community members folders
  • Ensure program documents and folders are in compliance with DYCD policies
  • Assist with facilitating work readiness training, workshops, and program orientation
  • Weekly visits to worksites to ensure community member safety, assessments, collect timesheets, and participants payroll
  • Meet with the Program Director and other staff regularly to assess community members' progress and challenges
  • Comply with all DYCD policies and administrative procedures
  • Provide support by responding to program-related inquiries; matching community members to worksites; site monitoring; conducting community member/worksite surveys and evaluations; and assisting with audits and site visits from DYCD
  • Attend staff orientation, meetings, and trainings as required by CPC and DYCD
  • Assist with special events, programming, and other WLGEC-related administrative tasks as needed
  • Report to and fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Director


Qualifications and experience:

  • GED/High School diploma; some college preferred
  • Familiarity with DYCDs youth-centered program approach; capable of implementing this approach for the benefit of participants
  • Must be culturally competent and provide services in a manner sensitive to participants cultural heritage and traditions, life experiences, sexual orientation, and gender identity
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with immigrant and low-income communities, and youth development
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and a sense of personal responsibility is essential
  • Ability to work independently and with others; good interpersonal skills
  • Previous administrative experience is preferred but not necessary
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Willing to travel to worksites via public transportation
  • Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) or Spanish a plus
